TV Media Walls FAQs
Fireplace and Safety
Does a media wall electric fire need ventilation?
Most modern electric fires are designed to run safely without a chimney or external venting, but requirements vary by model. We follow the manufacturer's specific ventilation and clearance guidance for every fire we install, so your build meets the requirements for that exact unit.
What recess depth do I need for an electric fire?
Most media wall electric fires need a recess depth of between 150mm and 300mm, though this varies by model. We confirm the exact depth needed as part of your design consultation, based on the fire you choose.
Are media wall fires safe? Yes, when installed correctly. UK electric fires must meet safety standards covering insulation, wiring and temperature thresholds, and the surrounding stud wall must provide adequate ventilation and clearance from flammable materials. Every fire we install is fitted to the manufacturer's specification and certified on completion.
Can I have a gas fire in my media wall instead of electric?
Yes, but by law any gas fire installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe-registered engineer. Most of our media wall builds use electric fires, which are simpler to install safely and don't require a flue.
